Monte Carlo Fashion Ltd
Background

Monte Carlo Fashion Ltd. came into existence in July 2008 in order to take over the ready made garments business of Oswal Woolen Mills Ltd and w.e.f 1st April 2011, the Oswal Mills was transferred to Monte Carlo.

Monte Carlo owns a manufacturing facility in Ludhiana,Punjab, which has a capacity of producing approx. 1.40 million pieces of woolen knitwear. The manufacturing house comprises the facilities for product development, design studio and sampling infrastructure for woolen garments that are wholly manufactured in-house.

Challenges

Monte Carlo owned two huge production units that were located in two distinct manufacturing houses.

One unit was placed in manufacturing house of Woolen knitted garments. Production of this particular unit was sold to multi brand outlets and exclusive brand outlets (MC only). Within this unit, 90% of the manufacturing work was done in-house and rest 10 %, which was mainly embroidery, was third party job work.

The other unit was placed in the manufacturing house of Apparels.Production of this unit too was sold to multi brand outlets and exclusive brand outlets (MC only). 10 % of the manufacturing work of this unit was done in-house and 90 %, which was mainly embroidery was job work.

The entire manufacturing process was outside SAP. Though there was a WIP system which was used to track the in-process material and for printing the bar codes, but keeping regular tab on master data, inventory management, production processes, third party job work, sales and distribution etc became cumbersome, and details began missing out.

Hence, there was a dire need of sector specific solution!

Solution

Since production process was getting mismanaged, so, Sage Technologies suggested one main solution for Monte Carlo, and that was to implement SAP production planning functionality. This SAP implementation was to be done for one manufacturing unit that was dedicated for production of woolen garments.

SAP was to be implemented to achieve the following functions:

Ø Production planning for manufacturing the finishedgoods

Ø Forecasting and Demand Generation

Ø Material Requirement Planning

Ø Shop Floor Controls

Ø Bar-coding and Label Printing

Ø Product costing & Profitable Analysis

Scope

Implementation of SAP with the following modules:

Ø SAP Production planning (PP)

Ø SAP Product Cost Controlling (SAP CO- PCC)

Ø SAP Profitability Analysis (SAP CO-PA)

Ø SAP Quality Management (SAP QM)

Ø SAP Materials Management (SAP MM) or Batch Management

Ø SAP Sales and Distribution (SAP SD)

Results

Though this project had to be accomplished within the tightest deadline, Sage Technologies successfully finished it as per the allotted schedule.

Monte Carlo was very pleased with our approach strategy, services, product knowledge and quality of project delivery. Apart from the purported project scope, we also provided additional solutions that benefited their varied business operations.
